This new 4m wide cable stayed steel Pedestrian Cycle Bridge, spanning 100m over the River Mourne, joins two historically divided communities in Strabane, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The bridge was designed and constructed with a tight budget, whilst still providing a very high quality architectural finish. Design ID were commissioned by the Main Contractor to undertake design services for the bridge, including Architectural detailing and Civil and Structural Design. Our Lead Civil Infrastructure Engineer, Associate Simon Lamont, was involved throughout the scheme as Architect and Scheme Project Manager direct to the client, to detail engineering designer, under a D&B procurement. He performed these roles whilst working for Client Engineer Doran Consulting, followed by working for D&B Engineer AECOM. Simon lead the scheme through option appraisal, cost management, construction feasibility, tender procurement, environmental management, detail design, dynamic analysis, Technical Approval with Transport NI to BD2/12 and value engineering.
