Following extreme flood damage the locally important Ballynameen Bridge collapsed due to scour damage, causing significant disruption to the local community in Claudy, and effectively cutting a village community in two.
In collaboration with our Contractor partner (FP McCann's), we came up with design and construction innovations which got the project off the ground, including saving existing historic infrastructure and using precast concrete with stone cladding to replicate the original 200yr old structure. The construction was completed in less than 6 months with the road re-opened over the partially refurbished / partially replaced / partially extended bridge structure.
