This new Beach Ranger and users facility is located in Northern Ireland on the North Atlantic coastline. The site is directly on the beach and is highly ecologically sensitive.
A load-bearing timber frame was proposed, supported on concrete pad foundations formed using precast concrete manhole rings to assist with supporting the foundation excavation into the loose sand.
The timber frame allowed nearly all structural components of the superstructure to be manufactured off site, minimising the construction period on site and ensuring the facility would be ready for the busy summer period.
