Brand new Fleet Motorway Services on the M3 Southbound from London.
The old services building was completely destroyed by a fire in December 2016. Since then it has been a quick turnaround to get the services back up and running. Design ID have worked collaboratively with JWA Architects, Galliford Try and clients Welcome Break to deliver a state of the art motorway services station.
Design ID have been the structural and civil engineers on this new development, designing a steel framed structure partly supported by internal and external timber columns.
The timber columns, arranged in random clusters are the standout aesthetic and structural design feature that showcase the new services. The slender timber columns imitating trees, aim to create an open environment with a natural appearance.
The new development has completely transformed the services in Fleet, making it one of the most contemporary motorway services in the UK today.
