The innovative Imjin Barracks project, part of the Army Single Living Accommodation (SLA) Programme. Working alongside the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Reds10, our team provided comprehensive civil and structural design services for this groundbreaking 3-storey accommodation block.
Highlights of the Imjin Barracks SLA: Constructed using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), with units arriving on site 90% complete. 69 single en suite bedrooms, communal living and dining facilities, state-of-the-art kitchens, drying rooms, and utility rooms. Compliant with Counter-Terrorism Measures (CTM) Level 2 and BACS Class A system, boasting over 95% on the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI). Achieved 'Defence Related Environmental Assessment Methodology' (DREAM) ‘Excellent’ and EPC 2 ratings and includes photovoltaic panels on the roof and connected walkway, air source heat pumps for heating and hot water and Nano Crystal Cell Battery technology for sustainable energy.
Our role included: Detailed design for groundworks, drainage, foundation, access roads, and pavement infrastructure. Structural design of the main superstructure. Close collaboration with contractors and the design team, ensuring seamless project execution and resolving challenges efficiently.
