The Project was for the design and construction provision of a new 1 & 2-storey school, under an NEC 3 Contract, to replace and demolish the existing Lismore Comprehensive post primary school in Craigavon. The new school has a long-term enrolment of 1200 pupils and a target internal area of c.15,300 m² in line with the Department of Education’s Handbook requirements with full project design completed to agreed BIM Level 2 parameters.
The new school was constructed on the site adjacent to the existing School Site at Lismore and extended to include additional sports pitches. The existing site was currently operational and remained so during construction.
Our appointment was as Civil and Structural Engineers for the project on a ‘Design and Build’ basis and the Scope of the project included:
Learning Support Centre (LSC)
Wide range of departmental teaching facilities
Assembly Hall
Sports Hall, Gymnasium and PE facilities
School Meals Accommodation
6th Form Accommodation
Main, Staff and Pupil entrances
School support and administration
Demolish the existing facilities including Asbestos Removal
Construction of 3no sports pitches (3G & Grass), 4No tennis courts and hard play
Supporting civils design including highways/roads, drainage, earthworks & retaining structures
Creation of a Green and Student Realm Space on subsequently demolished old school site
Achieve a minimum BREEAM 'Design and Procurement' rating of 'Excellent’.
