Design ID were the consulting engineers for the structural assessment of a number of historic elements at the Grade A Listed 19th Century Manor Estate, Mount Stewart, now a National Trust Property. The scope included the evaluation of the stability of a number of historic masonry walls and plain concrete statues.
Another aspect of our work included the evaluation of the stability of a number of historic masonry walls and vaulted roofs, as well as an assessment of the free-standing walls in close proximity to the coastal embankment. An approach of absolute minimal intervention was adopted, and where repair solutions were necessitated, these were sensitive to the original fabric, maximising retention of original material and character.
The final assessment was of the existing concrete silo structure, it included as assessment of an existing structure as well as a ground stability assessment accounting for the ingress of seawater caused by the removal of a nearby seawall.
