Royal Hillsborough Forest Sculpture
Sculptures, Stairs & Specialist | Community & Leisure | Public RealmThe timber sculpture is inspired by the natural woodland setting and the Gothic architecture of Hillsborough Parish Church.
Using Grasshopper and Karamba3d, we created scipts to develop the concept form provided by the artist into a working analysis model, evolving the visually form to reduce member stresses and to optimise timber lengths to suit available materials.
The foundations have been designed and detailed as floating foundations using a shallow steel grillage to avoid penetrating the forest floor or causing root damage.
