Tayfun Turnalar

Tayfun is a chartered structural engineer with more than 20 years of experience. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University in 1996, his engineering career started as a site manager at the Tekirdag-Corlu Airport project and followed with numerous residential/commercial projects in Turkey. After moving to the UK, he gained considerable consultancy experience working on a wide range of services including civil and structural engineering in both domestic and commercial sectors designing common forms of construction. Tayfun has extensive experience of developing integrated design solutions that meet the unique needs of those working within residential, healthcare and education sectors. Her Majesty’s Theatre Auditorium, University of Sussex Life Science Building, Heathlands Dementia Care Home are his more notable projects. Between 2008-2011, Tayfun worked for a design-build industrial chimney company in Singapore. He was involved in reinforced concrete/steel chimney design for heavy industrial projects from various parts of the World. Involved with the steel lattice tower project in difficult environmental conditions of the Philippines, reinforced concrete windshield projects in Thailand, India and Saudi Arabia. His South-East Asia work has enabled Tayfun to become a specialist engineer when designing tall structures that require consideration of major effects of wind/earthquake as well as slip-form construction and heavy lifting methods. When away from work, Tayfun enjoys nurturing his passion for all forms of music. In his spare time, he enjoys drumming as well as DJing.
