Gary Brett

Gary is a Principal Technician/Project Engineer with over 18 years experience working in consultancies in the Structural Engineering sector. He has worked on a vast range of projects throughout his career in both the private and public sector throughout Ireland and the UK, providing high quality drawings and models to clients. He has extensive knowledge of various software packages including Revit, AutoCAD, RC CADS and has delivered a number of projects to BIM Level 2.

Gary started his career with RPS in 2004 before the recession in 2008 meant that he had to move on to Creagh Concrete in 2011 and later WYG which became Tetra Tech. Gary became a chartered Technician with the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2015 and finished a part time BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering with first class honours in 2022. This has meant starting a journey into the design side of Structural Engineering where he has been involved in the design, management and detailing of a couple of small steel frames.

Gary joined Design ID in March 2024 in order to continue his journey in Structural Engineering and work towards becoming a chartered engineer, he has also taken on the role of Hon. Treasurer for the Northern Ireland regional branch of the IStructE for 2024.

Fun Fact – Auditioned for X-Factor in 2008, made it to meet the judges, but ended the star studded career there with 2 yes’s & 2 no’s!
