Luke studied Architectural Engineering at Cardiff University graduating with a Master’s Degree in 2013. He began his career with Atkins Ltd based in Croydon working primarily in the railway sector, where he spent time undertaking bridge assessments, strengthening designs, as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team on the outer stations of the Crossrail project.
Following 3 years in Croydon Luke transferred to the Belfast office where he continued to develop his experience in bridge assessments as well as expanding his capabilities in reinforced concrete water retaining structures, retaining walls, and foundation design.
Luke joined Design ID in 2018 and achieved Chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2022.
Luke has utilised his strong Network Rail knowledge to facilitate the design and construction approval of several housing development sites. This has unlocked previously unused parcels of land for much needed housing stock.
One of Luke’s favourite projects to date is Howth Looped Paths, this was the repair and regeneration of approximately 7km of rugged cliff side trails. Luke used best practice guidance to propose robust details suitable for the coastal environment.
Fun Fact - Luke can solve a Rubik's cube in less than a minute.
